Risley Home Inspections

We were first time home buyers and I thought I had done my research so I chose ( and paid) Risley Home Inspections $350.00 to inspect the house we were buying. It all seemed to go well. The first day we moved into the house, we realized the AC was NOT working. Now, the unit was older and we knew that. BUT, Risley put on our inspection that with proper upkeep it should be fine for several years. He had pictures of him checking the air filter area with a thermometer. He never once looked at the unit outside! He showed no pictures of it whatsoever. But, LIKE AN IDIOT, I trusted him. We got an awesome AC guy out there the following day and he said that it had never worked! Nothing was checked on the outside unit.. NOTHING. He told me we could definitely get a lawyer for this because we were done very wrong. However, I did not want to go that route because the guy that inspected our house actually seemed nice and I didn't want to go through the time or the money because we were already going to be out of pocket a lot to fix the unit. We finally got it fixed for $600.00. I called the home inspector and he said he "felt bad" and offered to pay half. I thought he should pay ALL but accepted the offer. I then tried calling multiple times to get the money with NO ANSWER OR CALLBACK. I would not recommend them to anyone whatsoever. I feel as though I was misled and done VERY wrong. I paid and trusted him with the biggest purchase of our lives. If we had known that the AC was not working, that would have definitely have had a say in whether we bought the house or could negotiate with owner. AGAIN, steer clear of them at all costs!!!!
