Metes & Bounds Landscape Design

I'm a certified landscape architect with over 20 years experience doing residential design and construction in the Mid-Atlantic area. I started Metes & Bounds Landscape Design in 2004. My work has consisted primarily of estate projects in rural areas, which has been and continues to be a thoroughly enjoyable way to practice my craft. I genuinely enjoy meeting people and helping them find solutions to the challenges they face while trying to improve their homes and lifestyles. Many homeowners want to do something nice with their property but don't know where to begin. It's common to meet with a few contractors or designers but not feel comfortable with the proposals or ideas that are presented. Alternatively, some people would like to do the work themselves but just need a bit of guidance. In one meeting that usually lasts about an hour and a half I can answer most of the questions and solve a lot of the initial problems that homeowners face when considering what to do with their property. I provide unique design ideas that will greatly enhance aesthetics and can advise regarding specific concerns such as grading, drainage, vehicular and pedestrian circulation, construction methods and materials, and of course planting. Quite often one meeting is all that's needed before initiating the process of building a swimming pool, patio, or some other component of a landscape. But after the consultation, if we agree that it makes sense to do so I'll be happy to present a proposal to prepare a design.
