Expert finishing for complete gas line replacement from meter to house using the new plastic piping which reduces the need of expensive trenching as the pipe is simply bent around the tricky areas The SoCal Gas engineer came to re-connect as they were finishing and was very impressed with their work,especially as this was at 7 pm on a Sunday evening.They didn't leave until the entire yard was put back as was.The plastic pipe is the best way to go ,it's much quicker to fit,non corrosive,unaffected by ground movement like earthquakes and you get a 20 year warranty.You also get peace of mind by the fact that only specially licensed plumbers can fit these plastic gas lines as they need it to buy the pipe.Anyone can buy the old metal pipe.We agreed a price for the entire job regardless of hold-ups to be finished in a day and a bit(Saturday and Sunday as SoCal Gas turned us off Friday afternoon).This was done with emails from them with the full agreement and terms in writing,so no misgivings and full understanding on both sides.We did get another quote from a plumbing company who had worked on this property's projects for more than 25 years and priced the job at a few hundred dollars less,but would not have worked over the weekend, and have taken nearly a week to finish with metal pipe in sections.I have estimated that the gas leak cost us $960 last year alone in lost gas and was only detected with a more modern gas meter.This means it won't take long for the work to have paid for itself and we don't have to be concerned about leaks ever again,even for quakes.The mains gas supply is never turned off,even during the '94 Northridge quake.
