A Cut Above The Best

Your biggest nightmare! Do not use Victor Alejo/A CUT ABOVE THE BEST, they did a horrible job installing curbing at our home. The work we required was to replace the existing hurricane damaged curbing. The company’s manager Victor Alejo could care less about the quality that he declares he is dedicated to in his advertising. He claims his company has 26 years of experience, he is 35 years old, and the average age of his non-English speaking crew was in our estimation was the early 20’s, so that claim means nothing. Victor Alejo got these guys started and left for the day. After the cement dried and the dust cleared, we discovered 150 feet of the most horrible quality of work you can possibly imagine (picture proof is available on the Sarasota county clerk of the courts website https://secure.sarasotaclerk.com/Login.aspx?session=0 case NO 2023 SC 005016 SC, you can see 90 pictures of Victor Alejo’s “QUALITY” work and find his real business address. Victor Alejo claims they are a Venice, Florida company and give directions from your location to the fake addresses of 1435 E. Venice Ave, 34282 or Venice, Florida, 1435 E. Venice Ave, Ste.139, Venice, Florida, 34282 or 2201 Executive Rd, North Port, 24288. These are all fake addresses; we did a mailing to each address, and they were returned “Address Unknown”. Victor Alejos’ response to this disastrous situation was that he would only fix about 25 feet of it and refused to do any other repair work in writing, We sued this company, and the Judge ruled in our favor stating that the job done was horrible in her view based on the curbing evidence pictures we presented. Victor Alejo was ordered to reimburse us $3,195.46 on December the 23rd, 2024 and to date he has disobeyed this Court Order and not paid us. We missed one important step in choosing Victor Alejo with A Cut Above the Best which we now know is an unregistered, unlicensed and probably an uninsured business that is not concerned with customer satisfaction and have we had done a simple google search of Victor Alejo prior to hiring him we would have seen his Mug shot (https://mugshotssarasota.com/arrests/victor-alejo/ ) which would have prevented us from using his company. Victor Alejo has proven himself to be an all-around bad guy. Here is a brief description of the mess he created without regard to quality , - Color is blurred , spotty, light in some places. dark in others multicolored along the entire work - Cracking in many places - Leafs and garden scraps in cement - Width and length of curbing varies drastically on the entire length - Stamping is not consistent and varies from foot to foot - Workers used their fingers to form stamping lines in many places - Curbing was not installed in the same place as the curbing removed exposing horrible gaps in the tile edges on the walkway and space between driveway pavers and curbing - Many cement pieces of removed curbing thrown into landscaping decorative stones Also be advised that many advertising pictures of Victor Alejo’s work posted on his company’s website are not his work and can be found on many other company’s websites. You have been warned not to use A CUT ABOVE THE BEST or deal with Victor Alejo unless you want all the problems we have painfully experienced. 6/22/2025
