Maintenance Man Landscaping

Maintenance Man Landscaping has been designing, re-storing, and maintaining properties since 1987. In the late 1980's the landscape industry was very different. Retaining walls were built out of pressure treated timbers and railroad ties; walks and patios were predominately Pennsylvania blue stone slate or natural stone, and the phone never stopped ringing. You see in the late 80's competition was slim and the economy was good. O, and not to forget to pay tribute to my first work truck, a 1979 Chevy Impala, yes, Impala. It is amazing what a trunk and a good tarp can do. Like everything else, the business of landscaping changed and so did Maintenance Man. Timbers became segmental wall systems, slate was replaced by pavers, and the C (competition) and R(recession) words became everyday subjects that had to be addressed. You see, the one thing I have learned in this industry is, we are the last to be hired and the first to get fired. New guys, you can bank on that. I don't want to talk too much economics but it needs to be said, that as labor rates go, we are the bottom feeders of the service industry. I think this is because everyone thinks they can do this type of work and this is one mind set that needs to change.
