Tim is the contractor everyone warned you about. Run, don't walk, in the other direction. We've dealt with a lot of contractors, each with their own flaws, but none can beat Tim on laziness, poor workmanship, mess, or bad attitude. We learned after our terrible experience with him that the license for T and H Services LLC had been REVOKED in 2020 and his individual license EXPIRED years ago. We got his name from a plumber to complete a kitchen remodel--installing cabinets, backsplash, crown molding, and trim; setting appliances, etc. He left us worse off across the board. Tim flat refused to fix most issues we raised and typically responded to concerns with a dismissive and patronizing tone. We have spent thousands to fix his work so far and received appalled reactions from every friend, contractor, and industry person we have shown his work to. Tbh it is embarrassing. Many say that his work is the epitome of what homeowners fear when dealing with contractors. Here are a few highlights:Installed base cabinets in an unlevel and unstable fashion that caused major issues for our countertops and ripple effects for the backsplash since the countertops could not be properly level. Tim said it was the countertop guys' problem and expected them to just use shims all over the place to correct his work, but shims can only do so much--it would have taken 3-4+ shims to level the countertops in some areas!! Our quartz guys were awesome and came out 3+ times to try and help make up for Tim's shoddy work, but ultimately if we wanted to fix the 1/4"+ slant in some areas we would have to remove the quartz and cabinets and start all over again.Installed backsplash all crooked without any spacers (this is unheard of) and without any prep work whatsoever to level out the wall (see photos).Drilled holes for base cabinet handles in objectively the wrong place, several inches BELOW the bottom of the top shaker rail (see photos). The correct options are either centered in the shaker rail or flush with the bottom of it. He did this without asking us (ridiculous because there are a couple ways to do it right, none of which he chose), then insisted his way was the "industry standard." He at least fixed these but did a shoddy job filling the holes he never should have drilled, leaving pock marks in our brand new cabinets.Installed 3+ drawer handles OFF CENTER, necessitating more shoddy hole filling and pock marks in our new cabinets.Rejected our cabinet manufacturer-made crown molding, insisted we get big box molding, then installed it so that cabinet doors were sitting ON TOP OF the molding. This not only looked awful but is impractical because the top hinged corner then rubbed against the molding. Screwed up installation of our expensive dishwasher in myriad ways. First he failed to secure the dishwasher end panel, and it fell off his truck. Then he refused to go get the replacement and install it before our countertops went in, making it impossible for the countertop guys to do what they typically would to secure the dishwasher. Then he put the panel in but failed to secure it before a plumber came to install the dishwasher, making it impossible for the plumber to secure it. Tim tried to blame both the plumber and countertop guys as "passing the buck" when Tim was 100% of the problem. THEN he made a very bad cut on the dishwasher end panel such that the dishwasher bracket cannot be properly secured to it. We now must order a THIRD $240 panel and pay someone to fix this unless we want the dishwasher to tip forward every time we load/unload it. Unbelievable.Ignored instructions as to how to mount/position stacked cabinets, made several egregiously bad cuts and moves related to those cabinets (see photos). The side panels should have gone down to the counter, and in no circumstance should there be a horizontal filler seam at eye level!! We had plenty of MDF panel to avoid such issues.Installed several cabinets crooked. He tried to blame the previous contractor, but the stacked cabinets had never been touched or worked on at all by anyone else. For the others, you'd think a professional would say "hey, if we don't do xyz that will cost an extra $***, your cabinets will not sit right/crown molding won't fit/ everything will be off." But not Tim. He just does what he wants, moves on, and scoffs/dismisses you if you try to raise concern about it later.Failed to align any of the kitchen cabinets despite saying he would and being reminded many times.Promised to set our refrigerator so that it sat right and even, then never did it despite being asked countless times. The fact he pointed out that it was sitting wrong when he gave his estimate was a big factor in wanting to go with him.On his last day, Tim left most things we flagged unaddressed, created a whole host of new problems around the stacked cabients, and told our building concierge on the way out he would neve be back and that I am a "spoiled brat." (He's also a total sexist, which is especially bad for a two-woman household like ours.) When we told him we would be deducting the costs of correcting all his shoddy and incomplete work from the final payment and withholding it until we knew what that cost would be, he went NUTS -- blew up our phones with angry texts and voicemail, threatened to sue us and report us to the credit bureaus, and told us he already put a lien on our property (impossible). He kept threatening that he would be at our home the next morning even though we said we were very uncomfortable with that for many reasons (personal safety and the fact we lost any hope he could do decent work). He persisted even after we found and noted that his license had been revoked and that he had not complied with loads of state requirements for contractor work.
