Mr. Miller, We are sorry that our product did not meet your expectations. We understand that you would prefer a screen removal mechanism that involves pull tabs, and we are always open to new ideas on how to improve our products. As we have informed you on several social media platforms and by phone, the modifications you are requesting involve drilling holes into a condensation channel, which will cause leaks. We are unwilling to perform work that we know will damage your home. You received our products built exactly as designed and exactly as you ordered them. We stand by our operable skylight design as a sound balance of safety, durability, and sustainability. Homeowner safety is the primary reason we use a right angle top channel above the screen, as this requires the homeowner to perform the screen removal process from under the skylight rather than accessing from the roof. While debris can be cleaned from above the skylight screen when accessing from the roof, we recommend that homeowners hire professionals using proper safety equipment to access your roof. Wind is the primary reason we use screws to securely attach the screens into the right angle top channel. Depending on the house design, moderate winds can foster conditions that create strong air pressure differentials within a house if the skylights are in the open position and an exterior door or window is opened somewhere else in the house. Using conventional design principals ensures that our products can be readily serviced by any dealer, contractor, or service technician nationwide. We value repairability over frequent replacement. We expect that our products display a self-evident design, and that our tried and true methods will still be in use in the decades to come.
