Home Builder - Waialua, HI
Aloha, My name is Chuck Harkins and I would like to tell you how this all got started. I was introduced to construction work in 1973 when I got out high school in Florida. I went to work for Rex Rodgers Steel Co. installing re-bar on a 17 story building high rise. Rex taught me how to read blueprints and detail all the placement of the re-bar in the building. After doing that for 2 years I decided that I wanted to be a carpenter. I went to work as a carpenters-helper on a framing crew for 4 years in Florida. After taking all that humidity, I chose to move to Southern California where I built high-end custom homes from ground up to turn key in the day and went to collage for computer programming in the evening. Thank God for my great teachers in both fields. In 1984 I became a general contractor in California. In 1988 I was offered the opportunity to build 3 custom homes in Hawaii. Well how could I refuse being that I'm a surf bum at heart. When I arrived I met with the architects and they told me that I wasn't a contractor in Hawaii and I lost that project. As a result I became a superintendent for CO-HA Builders building a high-end custom home in Hawaii Kai which made the cover page of Island Home Magazine. After that I began building houses, which included estimating of materials for home owners and other contractors on Oahu. Please feel free to ask me for referrals of home owners that I've worked for in the past. By the way I'm the young man on the left in the picture above, and the rest is history. Aloha, Chuck Harkins
