BEWARE of dealing with Housetop Home Improvement c/o owner Robert W. Williams. They do not stand by their contract nor do they provide quality work has they proclaim on their company website and Facebook page. Housetop replaced my roof in 2006, unknown to me the workers from Housetop did not properly flash the chimney and did not cut the flashing back into the mortar as agreed in their contract which resulted in long term water intrusion. I had two experts inspect the roof only to find out the extent of the defective work performed. When the owner Mr. Williams arrived for the inspection on January 15, 2016, he first showed up over an hour late and when asked about why he was so late he was very argumentative. Mr. Williams refused to go on top of the roof to inspect it, he in addition would not provide his Certificate of Insurance when asked and would not place his liability insurance company on notice of this issue. When pertaining to my family and I, he did not stand by his word or work. Only until I filed a complaint with the BBB did Mr. Williams hire an attorney and that is when I received a response. A new roof is supposed to last 20-25 years and only after 9 years I had to repay $785.00 to fix faulty work to the chimney performed by Housetop. In addition to the chimney, to show more of the lack of quality of work the roof also had protruding nails coming out of the shingles. WARNING: If Housetop has performed work on your roof or any other services he offers get a second opinion now. I took Housetop to Court to pursue the faulty work performed and the breach of warranty in the contract stating a 10 year workmanship guarantee. Per N.C. Gen. Stat. 1-50(a)(5)a it protects companies like Housetop/Mr. Williams who can get away with unprofessional poor quality work and not be held accountable due to the Six Years you have to bring forth a claim. Housetop's contracts are deceptive. He proved to me he rather pay or work out a deal with an attorney to come to Smalls Claims Court as opposed to keep a reputable business. I hope this post saves someone else from this experience with Housetop.
