DO NOT HIRE! THIEF and LIAR. Reading all his reviews on Thumbtack, Every bad review seems to be around a few common trends. The issues are either:(1) rude; (2) unresponsive; (3) does not finish the job after he collects payment. I have first hand experience with all 3. Working with Budget One owner, Stephen Pence is like working with a bipolar. Beautiful words, ugly action. Stephen's verbal bids make him seems knowledgeable. Ironically, he always emphasized on how he would never lie. However, his actions are the complete opposite. I used him on a handful of projects. 70% of the time he shows up a couple of hours late, or does not show up at all. When he plays hookie from my job site, he does not answer his phone calls or text messages, as if this person vanished from this world. Usually it takes a day for him to come back to life and call me back to get the job done. He was never apologetic about delaying my projects. He always has personal excuses. Most recently, I gave him a list of 8 specific tasks to complete in a house. He only completed 1 out of 8, and claimed the entire job was done, and collected payment in full. I called him out, he admitted not having completed those jobs, but then disappeared. He has not answered my phone calls, text messages, nor did he issue a refund for the job he did not complete. Another time, I had pluming issue, he quoted me $10,000 to repair it and swear up and down that his method was the only way to fix it. I called a reputable company instead, issue solved with $700 cleaning. His rating on BBB (Better Business Bureau) is only a C.

DO NOT HIRE .... Worst experience I have had with a contractor. Hired to install outside faucet and stupidly he hooked it to the hot water. Unfortunately I paid him and he promised to return to fix it. Of course he never did and made excuse after excuse why he could not show for our follow-up appointments. It cost me more to have a plumber fix his mistake then the original job. Do not be fooled by his promises. Save yourself the stress and do not hire Steve Pence from Budget One Maintenance Solutions.
