Westport Kitchen | Jan 2012 | A complete re-design of the kitchen space with floor to ceiling glass in the eating area. The Kitchen includes a farm house sink custom built from the same Carrera marble used on the counter tops. The kitchen was opened up to the new family room which has a wall of glass that opens to a screened porch. In the 2-story family room- we added old barn beams, added windows and replaced the dated brick fireplace with a full height fireplace built from Connecticut field stone. An iron spiral stair takes you up to the new home office which looks down into the family room. | $300k | Westport, CT
GREENSFARMS FARM | Jan 2011 | The original structure was built in the 1950's and was added on to 2 or 3 times with additions that were not sympathetic to the original house. The additions were removed and following the "big house, little house, back house, barn" book, we designed additions as though we were on a working farm in VT. Rooms were added as needed, the scale and proportion of the structure was kept constant and although there is a tremendous amount of square footage- you can't tell even when you are in the house. The rear of the house has a cathedral room with reclaim beams, windows that line the length of the room with a massive field stone fireplace anchoring the end. One side of the family room is connected to a screened porch where most summer meals are eaten The existing bedrooms remain and a new master suite was added. The master bathroom was featured in multiple magazines as well as being an award winner. | $750k | Westport, CT
ADDITION/RENOVATION | Jan 2011 | A cape style house, circa 1950, which had numerous additions and renovations- but it was missing a home office and an updated master suite. We chose the architecture of a "barn" that was "next" to the house which we then "joined " to the existing house. Large french doors to the outside as well as looking into the existing Sitting room/Dining room. The upstairs is a large master suite, a cathedral space with reclaim beams and a cupola that lets the sunlight pour in. The view to the private backyard is through an arched window that is the width of the room which takes you out to the deck. The original bedroom has new custom built-ins and has become the new dressing room. A second project that we completed at the house was a new kitchen, The owner is a leading collector of French pottery. We took the top shelf of the open kitchen shelves and filled it with the pottery- the kitchen is now more a gallery where you cook. | $450k | Westport, CT
LAKE AVENUE | Jan 2010 | An existing residence on a masterful landscaped piece of property with multiple specimen trees convinced the owners that renovating and adding on would keep the house that they brought their children up in and this was their opportunity to build for the next generation- grandchildren!! the additions were styled after Monticello in Virginia- Thomas Jefferson is considered to be the first truely American Architect. His style with the expanses of windows and column porticoes were used on the house and the pool house. There is a grand formality to the exterior of the house which takes you to an informal interior where there are activity spaces for some very lucky kids. The project consisted of 3 phases- the third being a master suite that allows the grandparents to hide and rest! The house has received awards for the pool house and was courted by the TV show "cribs" | $1.8m | Greenwich, CT
