Pridgen Brothers Contractors

Pridgen Brothers Contractors was established in July 1953 by W.J. Pridgen and younger Brother S.E. Pridgen as a General Contracting firm. Both brothers had worked with and for their Dad in construction for five years prior to establishing their partnership. They became well known through out Columbus, Bladen, Brunswick, Cumberland and Robeson Counties as Premier Home Builders for their craftsmanship, honesty and integrity. Jerry Pridgen, son of W.J. Pridgen joined the firm in 1962 after completing a year at Wilmington College now known as UNCW. Pridgen Brothers purchased a local Heating and Air Conditioning company in 1964 for the sole purpose of installing HVAC in projects they were involved with. W.J. and Jerry purchased S.E. Pridgen's portion of the business from his estate in 1975 following a fatal auto accident that took his life. They continued the construction business and broadened their involvement in the HVAC industry until 1982 when W.J. retired and Jerry purchased his portion from the family. - Jerry began to put more time and effort in HVAC and let the building portion phase out and in 1985 concentrated on the Commercial HVAC Market while retaining his unlimited General Contractors license. Since 1985 Pridgen Brothers has completed HVAC jobs ranging to $4.2 million dollars with an annual work load averaging 3 to 4 million dollars. - Pridgen Brothers has a work force of 30 full time employees and a reserve of 15 part time or temporary employees with HVAC experience. Of the 30 full time employees 10 live and work constantly in the Wilmington area. We have many long time employees of which 3 exceed 25 years. Other than Jerry there are five other family members involved, including Sons Jeff and Donald, Daughter Tricia, Grandaughter Kayla and Wife Margie. - Pridgen Brothers has constantly worked in the Wilmington area from 1985 until the present on many projects ranging from residential to commercial jobs including City Government Buildings, motels, banks, condo's, shopping centers including Mayfaire Town Center, grocery stores and office complexes. - Pridgen Brothers has achieved many goals and awards over the years, the most recent being "Commercial Dealer of The Year" award with The TRANE COMPANY.
