Rot Removal and Repair

Nov 2015

This project was a multi faceted repair that started as mold in the basement and was found by accident when working on another area of the home. I tripped when the toe of my shoe caught the carpet and i fell when getting up I noticed my knees were wet and I was nowhere near any source of water. This basement had the thickest pad and plushest carpet available. As it turns out water was leaking in at the roof line coming down chimney leaking under the gas fireplace and wicking up the carpet much like an oil burning lamp wicks up the oil. It would follow the carpet clear across basement and with the carpet so plush had gone unnoticed until I tripped. The siding had rot but we did not expect to find all the damage and mold we did. We also found the previous roof installer stopped the flashing 1 short causing the water to be funneled into the chimney area

Elevated Deck Restoration

Jul 2014

This was a restoration of a 15 year old deck that bad not been properly maintained. We removed some damaged handrails and the stairs and stair stringer. After the structural members were replaced we pressure washed and sanded the surfaces that hand s would tiuch washed again allowed to dry for 48 hours . While waiting for it to fully dry we tightened all fasteners and added a deckscrew to every area with existing screws. We applied the "Deckover by Behr" in Terra Cotta to the perimeter, this was done in late evening due to high temps so the cure was within temperature and humidity guidelines. The next day as no humidity or rain was forecasted we rolled the first coat across the entire deck surface and as we finished a freak 5 minute downpour occurred causing divots to the surface , all I could do was get the broom and allow the rains to help break loose the materials and wash them away as I finished washing the product off. The following day I pressure washed again due to the aggregate I used for the walking surface so it would have a non slip surface this had to be washedoff and everything started over. the perimeter applied a few days ago did not lose any of its application even with aggressive pressure washing selling me on this product when applied by mfgrs procedures needless tonsay it turned out wonderful but it was an adventure.
