Rapids Sheet Metal Works, Inc.

Rapids Sheet Metal was founded in 1915 by Biemler, Schmidt and Bennet. In 1922 Matt D. Schill began working part-time, and in 1929 purchased the business with Dan Lester. Don and Bob Schill, Matt's sons, purchased Dan Lester's share of the operation in 1946 after his retirement. Don and Bob purchased the operation from their father. Currently, Doug Schill and cousin Mike Schill operate the business their grandfather began three quarters of a century ago. Sons Kevin, Nathan, and Rob will soon be handling the reigns. Rapids Sheet Metal and their sister company Point Heating & Cooling in Stevens Point / Plover, Wisconsin, currently employ 21 people from the area. There is something reassuring about a business that has been passed down through the years from father to son and to son. There are so few of these institutions left today in an era of corporate monopoly. At Rapids Sheet Metal that hometown family dedication to service still endures, just as it has for the last 100 years!
