Manzano Landscaping

I paid Alex Manzano $2400 to clear a fence line, remove fallen trees, and install a drainage system. He said I could pay once I was happy with all of the completed work. I had to call him back several times, and there is still a huge fallen tree in my yard. I ended up clearing the brush at the fence line myself and removing the debri Alex was paid to remove. I still owe Alex an additional $360, but refuse to pay as he refuses to finish removing the fallen tree. Now he's threatening to put a lien on my house and tear up my drainage system. I'm filing a police report due to the threats. Needless to say I would not recommend Manzano Landscaping.

We hired Alex to perform some basic yard clean-up, including weeding; removal of a hedge, shrubs, a couple small trees, and a chain-link fence; and addition of topsoil and seed to the lawn. Alex offered a competitive price, but his service and lack of work ethic were unacceptable. On many occasions at all stages of our project (initial visit for quote, actual work, follow-up work) he did not show up on the agreed date, usually without any notice. Once or twice it was legitimately due to weather, but other times no explanation was given. On the day he and his crew finally did begin to work, they were interrupted by rain in the early afternoon. Alex tried to convince us that all the work had been completed so that he would not need to return to finish the job. Luckily, we had emailed him a detailed description of the scope of work we expected him to complete before we accepted his offer. It turned out that only about 50% of the agreed work had been completed. When we pointed this out, Alex did agree to return to finish the work (which he did several weeks later, after once again missing a few appointments). At this point we paid him, but soon thereafter we noticed that two trees that we specifically asked to be removed and uprooted had been simply cut off and covered with topsoil. Moreover, a long pole from the chain-link fence we asked him to remove and haul away had been left in the gutter in front of our house. We once again asked him to return to complete the work, and he agreed to do so. To date, he has not yet returned to finish the job and we are very unsatisfied with the quality of Alex's work. [We will update this review if and when the work is completed.] We absolutely CANNOT recommend Alex and encourage you pay the extra money for a professional.
