Wine "Room" in Small Space

Jun 2014

Part of the kitchen remodel included finding room for the clients wine collection but we didn't want to loose floor space in the kitchen, eating area, or living room. By incorporating 2 sets of French Doors and one tall cabinet, we built a "room" between the eating area and the living room. This reach-in storage has a cooling unit in the ceiling. Floor to ceiling racks hold 3 bottles deep, each side, and a positioned to be able to read the wine labels. LED lights were placed between the racks to shine through the bottles without adding heat or damage to the precious liquid.

Fireplace is Gone. Kitchen is Wow!

Jun 2013

This family had never used the fireplace in their kitchen/family room and felt it blocked the view to their backyard, so we removed it! With the fireplace gone, we installed a new backdoor in the same space, incorporating a small bench for changing shoes and holding jackets. That allowed us to change the sliding patio door to a window and gave us room to place the main clean up area (leaving the original sink location for a new handy prep sink). The family was amazed that taking out the fireplace and reducing the glass area from a sliding door to a window, could add so much light and room!

Outdoor Kitchen in Small Backyard

Jun 2013

During the remodel of the kitchen, we removed the sliding patio door and located the exterior door a few feet away. This allowed us to place the main kitchen sink under a new window (replacing the sliding patio door). To extend this family's living space, we added an outside sink to that same space. This handy counter and sink is on the opposite side of the window and has been used for kid's projects as well as a convenient buffet area in their new entertainment spot. The cabinets are hardy stainless steel and the countertop is concrete. The gas grill is centered on an island that separates their yard from the neighbors.

Farmhouse to FARMHOUSE!

Jun 2012

This farmhouse had been in the family for generations but had been empty for many years. To turn it back into a showpiece and where all the kids will return to for the holidays, almost every part of this house needed rehabilitation. The kitchen, though, brought all the love and coziness that the homeowners were looking for.
