Owner came to give estimate on hanging heavy crystal chandelier in 18' foyer, went to attic, was told it's heavy so frame has to hang 1st then crystals added Electricians came unprepared to anything, weren't sure 14' ladder would work, DISCOVERED there was no box in attic (not sure what owner checked!), told me to go buy "pancake boxes!!", took off the chandelier & the other 2 that need to be hanged, then DISCOVERED that the hanging part is different than what they know, OWNER WAS NOT TO BE REACHED, was told that they can't hang crystals either as IT WASNT INCLUDED IN ESTIMATE & would be priced on time & labor basis!!!!!! Wonder what owner came for on estimate day??? Providing I sent him email that morning recapping what needs done. Electrician told me wasn't owner's fault, won't wait for me to contact him & either put old ones back or leave as is, put them back, (was going to leave me foyer one with broken bulb that he broke, but made him replace it!!)

Free estimates were given to Mrs. Bassili. One was to install a chandelier lift in the foyer, replace the foyer chandelier and to replace two other chandeliers, the other was for replacing all three chandeliers. The attic was checked from the attic access hole to see if there was ample room in the attic above a chandelier in her foyer for a chandelier lift requested by the owner. I did not crawl up into the attic to see that the original house builder did not install any type of box at the fixture which is against the National Electrical Code. The owner informed me the fixtures were heavy and were from Europe. They were boxed. I gave her an estimate for two electricians to replace the fixtures assuming they were standard mounting and the owner had all parts necessary to hang the fixture. This was not the case. The fixtures needed special fixture hooks and are not supported the standard way. The owner only mentioned about the large amount of crystals that needed to be installed once all three fixtures were installed after the estimate was given. She only mentioned the weight. Never was the electricians was told to "go buy a pancake box" since the the fan support pancake box is standard on our service truck. The owner was told that she would need to go to a lighting store to buy the necessary non-standard parts and to buy additional boxes since the two other fixtures also did not have boxes.
