Carmella, you were never a customer of mine and this area is reserved for past customers to share their experience of my services. However until this untrue review is removed of me, I will defend myself. I should've never came to give you the estimate. You never told me you were spending 15k for tile being laid in a 1200sqft home before texturing and painting walls. Had you told me that I would've declined to look at the project until it was ready for paint because you are a ways away from me. You were having us walk over fresh laid tile, and the contractor was noticable upset by that. We couldn't talk over the tile saw as well. I felt bad for them, and annoyed we were even trying to walk through the project. So unlike you guys, I didn't walk on the tile, and I didn't get to look at the rooms. I only got to stretch over and peek in. At that point I knew my trip was wasted. Not to mention it was raining really hard all day and I called in ahead of time to tell you I'd be a few minutes behind due to the driving conditions coming from Norman to Bethany. Now I do light texturing, but not full house jobs. That requires a sheetrock company. So I wish I knew that. Then I mentioned having the floors done before all of this didn't make much sense and that's where your attitude changed, and you became extremely defensive. You mentioned purchasing your own paint and I said I don't like when customers do that, because I don't like having my option of materials taken away from me and chosen for me. I have 25 years experience working in this everyday, and from your choice in materials you do not. You chose a SW Duration interior acrylic for your walls. That paint is designed for wood and over double priced and not recommended. You had a cheap PPG paint for the ceilings and only wanted to use the 5 gallons and change horses in a race. I tried to tell you I wouldn't do that because of paint matching purposes and it is a thin paint and messy and will ruin my tools and drop cloths, and you said well I already bought it so we are using it. The wood paint you kept stating was the best as well, was SW Proclassic Acrylic. A cheaper wood paint than the Duration you chose for the walls that's been out over 15 years. I explained there are 5 more levels of premium paint above that grade, and that I preferred their industrial urethane, or SW Emerald urethane. I explained that with your age of wood and the substrate it would've saved us some coats and had a better finish if we went with a higher grade paint. See when you choose a painters materials, you are usually creating more coats that need to be done, and costing yourself more money, because we get top prices and discounts despite what a store will tell you that you are saving. Also, they enforce their guarantee with us for longevity and coverablity. Also, we are going to know what's best for each different substrate. That paint you chose was incorrect and in your words I, inferior. Now I'll state this here and now and for any customer reading: I DO NOT SELL PAINT NOR MAKE A PROFIT FROM MATERIALS. I have a set squarefoot price, or time and materials, where as in I charge you 50 bucks to pick up materials one time and I can hand you a receipt for materials for what I pay. Some painters charge the full price of materials and pocket their discount, I don't and I see that as an area to save customers. I'm sorry you found that I was in any way rude. I consider myself to be very friendly, punctual, direct, and more knowledgable in my profession than most. I as well don't like to argue and that is the main reason I put my hands up finally and told you we weren't the company for you. Which is true, because I've never had a potential customer talk to me like I was sub human before and talking down at me in general especially before being hired. Stating that what you say goes, and that you were the boss, and I am the worker while jabbing your finger at me. I looked over at your husband and he was even shaking his head. That's when I was out, and I stated I wasn't a worker for hire, and that we are an actual business that do things our way after a color is chosen, then you claimed you were also a licensed interior designer. I laughed and said good luck and walked away. I guess that was rude of me and I apologise. You never got a quote because I wasn't interested in working for you. You refused to talk about your paint, well that's the only thing I'm there to do, is talk about and apply paint. It's kinda important we talked about it. However that door swings both ways, "This gentleman needs skills on how to communicate effectively. You can easily easily lose a potential customer by your approach." You can lose a potential contractor the same way. Your level of ego, and pride, and entitlement was astounding. I am a person. This is my small business, and I can refuse services if I choose and you were the third person in maybe 7 years, but it happens. I do my best to offer free estimates, but trust me when I tell you that contractors that give free estimates aren't doing them for free. Good luck in your project and I hope whoever you hire doesn't have a horrible experience like I had.
