I have worked in various successful software start-ups in the Charleston as well as being the owner of Canter Construction. I chose to create Canter Construction as a new type of company that offers a full suite of benefits for customers who work with us. I aimed at creating a company that effectively communicates with each client, has quick turn arounds on estimates and has the ability to accommodate varying clients needs and timelines. We also provide clients with conceptual designs to help bring their ideas to life before the project starts. I have spent the past four years in general contracting and custom remodeling & home additions. I have built our business strictly on referrals, with no advertising. We take great pride in this fact and want all of our customers to be 100% comfortable with my team. All of our clients have direct access to me on all projects and I aim to provide a personalized service for everyone we work with.

Jonah the owner is a great salesman but very unprofessional, confrontational and couldn’t finish what he started. He left us with a demolished bathroom. We had 2 baths and full kitchen remodel in contract. 1st bath quality was sub par. No attention to tile work. For master bath we consulted for materials needed, ordered everything with their approval and after demolition we were told we didn’t have enough tile, wrong plumbing fixtures and had wrong pocket door hardware. They were very defensive and said it was not their fault. We showed emails highlighting their approvals. Their response was to cancel all our projects leaving our bathroom completely demolished and kitchen unfinished. They never apologized or took responsibility for their shortcomings. Their only job is to make sure clients have right materials and are on a timely schedule since they sub contract all their work with cheap labor, and couldn’t even do that properly. Would not recommend this company to anyone. Update: Jonah the owner confronted my wife and I while we were on a bike ride. He started harassing us for the previous bad review we posted. He insulated our character, appearance and repeated many vulgar terms at us. He closely approached me and was within inches of me at times. He was drinking and seemed intoxicated. I was willing to discuss our business disagreements and urged him to calm down. He continued with his harassing behavior telling us to F off and screaming at me. We rode away as their was no way of having an adult conversation with him. This statement doubles as our first public record of harassment. If he approaches my wife or I while we are minding our business again we will file a restraining order on him as allowed by South Carolina law. It is sad that it had to go this way. I have never left a review in my life, but such reckless behavior cannot be swept under the rug. As business owners ourselves we will never treat our customers like this.

After several years (and countless projects) with Canter Construction, I highly recommend their services. As Realtors, we rely on them for our personal home repairs/renovations and also for handling our clients’ home inspection needs prior to closing. Whenever I'm negotiating with another real estate agent about work to be done on a home (buying or selling side), I try to get Canter Construction in to perform the work because I know it will be done correctly. Not only do they give fair prices, but I can also trust that it will be done the right way. They can address most issues, from plumbing to electrical to structural to wood rot to termite damage and more.

Not only has Canter Construction done a great job, but they have also been more than accommodating with my last minute requests! I love that we have someone to call for basically any of our house projects -- plumbing, to kitchen backsplashes, to a fireplace mantel.. They're very easy to work with. Highly recommend.
