Born in Columbia, Eddie Weaver went to college in Jacksonville, Florida. After working in retail for several years, he returned to Columbia to work in the electrical business with his father. At the age of 26, Eddie earned his master electrician's license. For his first foray into business ownership, he began E. W. Weaver Electrical Contracting in 1976. In 1979, he earned the South Carolina Unlimited Electrical qualification. The company focus was wiring new and custom homes, as well as commercial electrical projects in both South Carolina and Georgia. With an interest in electronics, he became involved with security installations. And in 1987, his company applied for and received an alarm dealer's license. Eddie transitioned his business focus to encompass a broader range of services, thus becoming Weaver Systems. In addition to electrical contracting, services included home and commercial security of all types, access control and other related resources. In the early 1990s, Eddie recognized the coming trend in home theater and upscale audio. Usage and installation became commonplace, providing a natural flow for the expansion of the business. A true believer in giving back to the community and his industry, Eddie has served in a variety of posts in both public and private capacities. He was a member of the Richland County Council from 1991 - 1999, where he served as chairman of several committees.
