Sodded my backyard. Some sod was dead at the time of sodding and remains dead today (2 months later). Yard is unmowable because lumpy. Asked julian landscape to sod my backyard. Explained that the previous owner apparently had a pet that dug holes and a swing set that had worn areas and i "wanter to be able to putt on the grass". I paid 1/2 upfront. They arrived and tilled up the back yard, existing grass and weeds. To my surprise, they redistributed the grass, weeds and soil throughout the yard then laid sod on top. Upon completion, I asked Julian about the lumpiness of the sod and I was told to give it a couple weeks and it would settle down. Still concerened, I asked if they were going to use a roller on the sod to level it and I was told it would likely not help and to give it some time. So I waited As the sod started to green, some areas remained brown and looked dead. I reached out to Julian to express my concern and he assured me it was "dormant". Well, if that's the case, it's June 3 and still dormant... 2-3 weeks ago I asked Julian to replace those areas and he said he would. Has not happened. Asked Julian to repair, replace or refund my money so I could get another contractor to sod the yard and was told that he fullfilled the contract. Well let's be clear, there is an implied expectation from a reasonable person of performance. I doubt you can find anyone who would say the install of the sod is acceptable (not perfect) just acceptable. So I gave Julian an opportunity to work with me before I filed a complaint and he said, "Looks like I need to get an attorney involved. Don't threaten me."
