B JAHN BUILDERS INC

BJahn built my new home in 2017. I have held off on posting a review for few years, but offer one now in the interest of helping potential customers hear of a negative experience and be armed with additional information to make an informed decision as to who to hire. First, BJahn did a great job of residing my former home back in 2015. That, along with their reported emphasis on trust, quality, attention to detail ... per website, is why I felt fortunate to have them build my new home. There were things that were done right and many suggestions offered by Brandon that I much appreciated. I think BJahn aspires to meet goals mentioned on their website. Unfortunately, quality and attention to detail were certainly not what I experienced. I paid for a general contractor and the work done, and trusted things would be done right. I can provide a number of examples of how that was not the case ... "evaporation drain" put in attached heated garage, because per Brandon's report can't have a drain in city garage,which is not accurate - just have to have drain to daylight - is not a good thing at all, no electric in kitchen island which Brandon said was his bad and as an after plan could drill into concrete to fix issue which I did not choose as plan involved stained concrete floor and mistakes of unsure drill attempt to correct would not be good, repeated plumbing issues/redos, terrible sheet rock and paint job that were subcontracted out (have had major crack in great room wall since last year, - last August Brandon said happy to help but would have to invoice, crack is in area that was previously repaired twice, and per external drywall consult last summer "whoever did the job should never have put joint where they did and job not done right", interior was repainted three times - last time by person I chose, Brandon paid for, and thankfully was finally done right), trim gaps at start such that saw wall in between multiple joints in prominent areas, which were redone after complaints, some base trim still not nailed in, garage door and opener (cheap and not what was on proposal) issues from start which I complained about and was told garage doors are noisy, that's normal..., then last May when rails actually came off hinges external garage door company came over to check out and noted is "junk" and Brandon finally replaced opener and system, at no charge - how great to not be charged for what should have been done right in the first place, not putting in junk and having some guy on the side do it ... I will stop with issues encountered as point of review was to provide the reader with a taste of negative experiences, not an exhaustive list. I had many contacts with Brandon regarding problems. My general impression of what transpired is that externalization of responsibility for problems, noting discontent with subcontractors B Jahn chose to do the work, statements "have never had a problem before" ... are not, in my opinion, indicative of a general contractor or business that can genuinely say "Trust, Reliability Quality and Attention to Detail are paramount in our business - and our work speaks for itself. We like what we do and are committed to quality craftsmanship." Very unfortunate that things worked out as they did, as again, I think B Jahn aspires to do better work than what my new home and experience attests to. Just got done spraying yet again with formula to try to kill mold that continues to grow throughout the year in it - understandably, inevitable given setup. Dread winter and having to deal with snow melting and filling, as it is NOT a drain that evaporates (Who in their right mind would expect such). Great that BJahn thought this would work, but unfortunate for me, the poor sucker that trusted their judgment!! Attention to every detail is what they say they offer. Certainly not the case in their building of my home. Continue to be disappointed and very frustrated with how things turned out with my home.
