Forman Residence

Oct 2011

This project began with an existing "design." The old design used elements of modernism, i.e. straight lines, grid paving, but was to put it lightly "poorly executed." The new design feels more cohesive and connected to the house, with elements of modernism (horizontal slat fence), and elements of naturalism (soft, textural, wild plantings). The client was fond of the Three Sisters Wilderness, so Manzanita and Feather grass were used to achieve a mountain hills look. Many of the existing plants were just rearranged to fit the new design. This design requires no extra water during the summer and very little maintenance besides weeding.

Ivy Street

Jan 2013

Designed for a young professional couple that wanted a space for both hosting and relaxing, we created a simple, contemporary design with a custom patio and a tall and slender planting design to provide privacy and a feeling of intimacy in a half-sized (25'x100') city lot. We were happy with the results and the clients were thrilled that it all came together within their budget.
