![]() ![]() | Garage Build | Nov 2013 | The homeowner wanted a full two-car garage with a storage area on the existing carport pad. The biggest obstacle with the garage was working around the 100-year-old oak tree that was just feet away from the current carport, which limited our area to work in. Before we started on the project we consulted an arborist, who recommended some pruning and fertilization, which we did. During demolition of the carport, we decided to raise the garage two feet to protect the root system of the tree from further damage. We built our footings and foundation walls and brought in dirt one load at-a-time to build up the slab. The garage was fully finished with sheetrock and trim and we installed a separate meter base for any future electrical work. At the end of the project we had a manufacturer of garage door openers request a photo shoot of their new products inside our garage! | $60k | Charlotte, NC |

![]() ![]() | Master Bath Remodel | Jan 2013 | The homeowners wanted a new master bathroom but with one stipulation - they wanted us to renovate the entire space through the window in the master bath. We obliged. During demolition, it became apparent that this home was a "handy man special." We found several buried junction boxes, hidden plumbing vents, mysterious water valves, and the floor was out-of-level by 1/2" per foot! Nothing remained in the space after demolition, but the studs! We had our work cut out for us. We ended up removing the basement ceiling and rewiring the entire bath with new circuits. We removed all the mysterious valves and re-plumbed the bath to code. We repaired over-cut floor joists and leveled the floor with self leveler. In the end, the bathroom turned out great! We reconfigured the bathroom layout and built a water closet for privacy. We split-up the double sink and created "his" and "hers" vanities. We installed a Schluter Shower System along with all new cabinets, trim, flooring and fixtures. All of this through a bathroom window! | $24k | Charlotte, NC |
![]() ![]() | Whole House Renovation | Jan 2013 | We purchased the home as a foreclosure and knew it needed a lot of work. However, we found that it needed more work than we were expecting! We found extensive rot under the kitchen and bathrooms and had to replace several floor joists and floor sheathing. We realized the home had aluminum wiring and had to rewire the entire home and replace all the fixtures. The roof was dry-rotted, which required all new sheathing and shingles. We replaced the HVAC system and moved it into the attic to open up space in the hallway. We tore down the old deck, which was extremely dangerous and built a new one. We added French doors in the dining room that lead onto the new deck to extend the living area outside. We also added a 1/2 bath by using some room from the utility area. This enables future homeowners to close off the hallway and bedrooms when entertaining guests. We redesigned the kitchen and put in a pass-through window from the living room to open up the area. We remodeled the entire kitchen and baths with new cabinets, appliances and fixtures. When we were finally finished, we had replaced every major system in the home and had remodeled the house from top to bottom. A first-time home buyer purchased the property within 30 days of listing it and she is extremely happy with it! | $70k | Charlotte, NC |
