My experience: What everyone is saying about Dan the Handyman is true. He’s definitely not professional. We called him out for a quote on several different things that needed repair/updating from painting to patching holes. He wrote up an estimate listing some, but not all of the work we discussed and provided one lump sum- rounded figure for the work. (No itemized estimate- Red Flag #1) When we went back to him to ask for a professional, itemized estimate listing ALL of the work discussed and providing the cost for each job he sent back the same estimate with the same lump figure and just added a few more (but not all) of the work discussed and he wanted to start the job the next day. When I explained that we wanted to get a couple of more estimates for comparison he seemed frustrated to say the least. (Rushing the job- Red Flag #2) After a week of getting other estimates together we decided to have the painting done elsewhere. Since we didn’t have an itemized estimate we didn’t know how much the rest of the work was going to cost. So I called his number and left a message requesting a revised estimate with everything except the painting job. He never returned my call. (Disappears- Red Flag #3) I followed up with another voice message a few weeks later and still no return phone call. It’s been about 5 or 6 weeks since I left that original voicemail and still no return call. Even if he is so busy that he has to turn down work (which I doubt) he could/should have been professional and let me know he no longer needed my business. After reading the other reviews about him, I’m thinking we actually dodged a bullet.

This guy is absoultly INSANE. He may come off charming but as soon as a issue comes to light he may threaten you or call the cops on you or both and claim you are the one who threatened him.

Beware beware beware I’m a renter and he was hired to do project by the landlord . When he arrived I asked him for his insurance and license. He got angry and called the cops (not really sure why) the cops to him there was no reason for them to be there . The job was a deck demolition I had personal belongs on the deck. Dan was out front and one of his workers asked if I was saving the stuff up on the deck I said yes . When dan came to the backyard he ask what they wore doing (I’m in the house but here him say throw it all out I don’t care) . I reached my head out the door and said you better no throw my stuff away he called back the cops are you kidding me WOW dan the handy man just wow if there was a zero he would get it beware

Dan had done a good job with some repairs, unfortunately we hired him to do a bathroom remodel consisting of new tub w/shower doors, new vanity & light fixture (no flooring or medicine cabinet) wainscoting on the walls. We still have a problem with the shower doors but at least they're not coming off the track now, He tried to give me a cheap vanity (not the one he had promised and then tried to charge me an extra $500.00 (my husband put a stop to that) There was dust everywhere, including electronic equipment when he sawed the wainscoting, all my bedroom doors were left open.We had 2 leaks one from the tub faucet that soaked the rug in my son's room & the kitchen ceiling. The other was from the sink where he discovered he had used a defective hose, this leak came through the ceiling in the living room, & warped my laminate floor.He eventually fixed the leaks. He did such a sloppy job on gluing and caulking (it's hard to clean the edges of the tub) he also cracked my towel bar which I provided, nicked my banister and my wall. Needless to say, My bathroom remodel turned out to be a nightmare. He said it would take three days, was supposed to have been finished before Thanksgiving, HA!!! He said he would come & take care of some things, like touching up the ceiling, my laminate floor etc., but ignored our call or always had an excuse. I thought he was a nice reputable guy, but I was wrong.
