Hi Finbar, I would not recommend attempting this until you have your deck thoroughly inspected by a qualified home inspector. Many, if not most, decks are improperly installed and adding the load of a roof, walls, and windows could make things very unsafe. This project will require a building permit in most areas. I'd discuss the project with a home inspector or general contractor before proceeding.
