My drain is clogged and I'm getting quotes for over $200 to snake it.
That seems really high, is that normal for the Seattle area?

I'm in Memphis, TN and that would be a reasonable price to get a plumber out to do this job; average minimums with service call range $85-250. It is a fairly simple procedure for a DIY if you have a rod or hand held snake ($65-115.) if it is a kitchen or bath vanity you could take the trap loose and clean it out. Beware of the unexpected things- ie broken washer, broken nuts, or cracked drain pipe; those are the things that cause plumbing bills to increase and they aren't uncommon. Hope this helps.

Thank you! I may look into just purchasing a snake then. If you have any recommendations for consumer grade ones, it would be appreciated.
